Position: WEB DESIGNER

The Web Designer is broadly responsible for determining the best way to visually represent OSI's identity online. (S)he will be adept at synthesizing and translating raw ideas into clear, efficient, and beautiful designs for the award-winning website, Soros.org, as well as for other interactive projects. The Web Designer reports to OSI's Web Manager.


Primary Responsibilities:

•Leads creative sessions for the redesign of Soros.org
•Conceptualizes and execute unique, standards-compliant Web design solutions, independently and as part of a team, for a range of Web projects
•Develops rich interactive (Flash) Web interfaces with reusable components that can be carried across multiple products
•Prepares business requirement documents to convey information design and architecture (wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, navigation, mockups, etc.)
•Produces and maintain design guidelines and standards for network Web entities
•Applies a consistent visual language across multiple Web properties
•Evaluates new techniques and design methodologies to support OSI's communications and advocacy strategies

Qualifications:

•3+ years Web and multimedia design experience (visual and user interface)
•Superior design skills
•Advanced skills with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other industry-standard graphics software
•Advanced knowledge of Flash and related scripting
•Proficient in InDesign as well as Visio or Onigraffle
•Working knowledge (at least) of hand-coded HTML and CSS
•Working knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, and AJAX a plus
•Well versed in usability best practices as well as standards-compliant Web development
•Excellent communications skills and detail oriented
•Interest in and/or knowledge of OSI program areas desired
